Grundfos Booster Pumps

Choosing a Grundfos booster pump for your home

A booster pump can help when water reaches your home but arrives at low pressure at showers, taps or appliances. It needs water to be available at the pump, so it may not solve a weak, intermittent or empty supply; it is worth finding the cause of the low pressure first. Grundfos offers several booster families for homes; use this page to compare them before you open a model.

Grundfos booster families at a glance
  • CMB: fixed-speed boosters. PM1 models start and stop automatically with a pressure manager and have dry-running protection; PT models combine the pump with a pressure tank and pressure switch. See CMB pumps.
  • CMBE: variable-speed boosters with an integrated drive and pressure sensor, designed to hold a set pressure as demand changes. See CMBE pumps.
  • SCALA1 and SCALA2: all-in-one, self-priming boosters. SCALA1 runs at fixed speed and connects by Bluetooth to the Grundfos GO app; SCALA2 adds integrated speed control for constant pressure. See SCALA pumps.
  • Other models in this collection: the Grundfos UPA 15-160, JP4-54PM1 and CMSP3-4PM1 are also listed. Check each product page, and ask us for product guidance if you are unsure which model to look at.
What to check before you choose
  • How water reaches the pump: from the mains, from a tank above the pump, or from a tank or well below it.
  • How many bathrooms and taps you have, and whether you use a normal shower or a rain shower. This is a useful starting point, but not the whole picture.
  • What may run at the same time, such as showers, taps and a washing machine.
  • The height of the highest tap and the pressure you want there.
  • The age and condition of your pipework.
  • Whether a simple automatic booster is enough or you want steadier pressure as demand changes.
  • Whether the pump may be connected directly to the mains. This depends on your installation and local water supply requirements, and Grundfos notes that rules differ by region, so check suitability first.

FAQ & Guide on Grundfos Booster Pumps

Which Grundfos booster family should I look at first?

It depends on how water reaches your home and how much demand changes. CMB is the conventional automatic booster, CMBE and SCALA2 are built to hold a set pressure as demand changes, and SCALA1 is an all-in-one fixed-speed unit with Bluetooth setup. Open the family pages for details, or ask our team to compare them for your home.

Can a booster pump help with low water pressure at home?

It can help when water reaches your home but arrives at low pressure, for example on upper floors. If the supply itself is weak or intermittent, a pump alone may not solve it, because the pump needs water to be available. A suitable model depends on your water source, the height and pressure you need and how many outlets run together, so ask us for product guidance, and a qualified installer to check your site.

Does the number of bathrooms or a rain shower change which pump I need?

Both are a useful starting point, because more bathrooms and a rain shower usually mean more water in use at once and a fitting with its own flow and pressure needs. But bathroom count is not the whole picture: what may run at the same time, where your water comes from, how high it has to go and the condition of your pipework also matter. Check the minimum pressure and flow stated by your shower's maker, then read our Grundfos booster pump selection guide for the checks to make, or ask our team for product guidance.

What should I tell CT Hardware when asking for a recommendation?

How water reaches the pump (mains or tank), the number of storeys, how many bathrooms you have and whether you use a normal or a rain shower, how many outlets run at the same time, the pressure problem you see, and any existing pump or tank.

Are all Grundfos booster models in ready stock?

No. CT Hardware regularly stocks selected Grundfos CMB, CMBE and SCALA home booster pumps, subject to actual availability, but not every model is stocked and other Grundfos models may be available to order. Please contact us to confirm availability and lead time before you order.

Does CT Hardware install Grundfos pumps?

No. CT Hardware provides product guidance but does not provide installation services or on-site assessments. Follow the manufacturer's instructions and ask a qualified installer or contractor to check your piping and water supply.

How do I find out about the warranty for a Grundfos pump?

Warranty eligibility and coverage are governed by the applicable manufacturer terms, which depend on the specific pump model, not on the family name alone. Our Grundfos warranty information page is general guidance only: it does not replace the manufacturer's terms or promise any particular warranty duration. Check the product page for your model, and contact us if you are unsure which terms apply to your pump.
